During the month of June, the girls had time to be creative and active in all kinds of activities held both in BaMbuss and outside! They participated in a Visuals event with some local youngsters, discussing social and environmental issues from the short-films and coming up with solutions to be more civic and responsible.
Laure took part in a Biennal 10-hour-long creative and arts workshop, where she had the chance to develop her artistic and film skills and share the outcome with an international audience. She learned a lot! She also volunteered at KKC local taking some photos and assisting with some events.
Khristina, on her side, took part in a three-day-long Youth Centre training, assisting BaMbuss in brainstorming sessions, note-taking, and hosting international groups who came to Riga to come up with ideas to improve the quality of youth centres.
But it wasn’t all working! As the summer is coming to Latvia, the girls have been enjoying the weather and spending their free time enjoying nature and practising sports like Taekwondo. Both girls had their moms coming to Riga for a visit, and they even booked a free day to go see the Dalai Lama in person! And there was some travelling as well, of course! Laure went to Berlin to see a friend, whilst Khristina made a solo trip to Vilnius – where she enjoyed and documented their Vegan Festival!
In addition to helping prepare everything for the new coming short-term volunteers to BaMbuss, they also found some time to celebrate their first summer in Latvia and start celebrating Ligo with their friends (and with garlic bread).
Project “BaMbuss Volunteers” is financially supported by the European Commission “Erasmus +: Youth in Action”, which is managed by the Youth International Program Agency in Latvia.
